TSC to Begin Issuing Promotion Letters to Teachers Starting June 22, 2025
Nairobi, June 22, 2025 — In a major step forward for teacher career advancement, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially announced the commencement of the issuance of promotion letters to successful candidates. Beginning today, June 22, 2025, teachers who passed the recent promotion interviews will begin receiving formal letters confirming their new positions.
This latest move affects post-primary school teachers who applied and participated in promotion interviews conducted earlier this year. According to a statement from the TSC, thousands of educators who met the qualifications, demonstrated professional competence, and performed well in interviews will be elevated to higher grades within the teaching service.
At the same time, teachers who were not successful in the selection process will be issued regret letters, informing them of their status and encouraging them to reapply in future openings. The commission emphasized that the promotion process was conducted in a fair, transparent, and merit-based manner.
The TSC's communication comes as part of its broader strategy to implement the Common Cadre and career progression guidelines, which aim to motivate teachers and ensure effective service delivery in schools across the country.
Promotion letters will be sent directly to individual teachers and copied to their respective school heads and County Directors to facilitate smooth transitions into new roles. These promotions cover various grades, including those moving from C1 to C2, C2 to C3, and other higher designations for diploma and graduate teachers.
“We are committed to recognizing and rewarding hard-working teachers who continue to uphold high standards in the profession,” a TSC official noted. “This round of promotions is just one of the many steps we are taking to enhance job satisfaction and ensure quality education in all public learning institutions.”
Teachers are advised to check with their county offices or school administrators for updates regarding the dispatch and collection of their promotion or regret letters. The TSC has also assured educators that those not selected in this round will remain eligible for future promotional opportunities, provided they meet the necessary requirements.
This marks a significant milestone in the education sector for 2025, bringing hope, motivation, and renewed commitment among Kenya’s dedicated teaching workforce.
