TSC Advertises Teacher Promotions and Releases List of Successful Candidates
Nairobi, June 3, 2025 — The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially published the list of promoted teachers on its website, following successful applications from two major promotion drives conducted in June and December 2024. In total, 25,633 teachers have been promoted across various grades, a major step in addressing stagnation in the teaching profession.
According to the TSC, 5,690 teachers were promoted after applying for the vacancies advertised in June 2024, while a further 19,943 secured promotions from the December 2024 advertisement. The positions cover both primary and post-primary levels and include promotions across several job groups, including those moving from C1 to C2, C2 to C3, and others ascending into administrative roles such as Deputy Principals, Senior Masters, and Headteachers.
However, despite the significant progress, the TSC revealed that 381 vacancies remain unfilled. These unfilled positions are attributed to a shortage of qualified applicants in certain categories or specific geographic areas. The Commission is expected to re-advertise these slots to ensure all positions are eventually occupied.
The latest promotions are part of the TSC’s broader efforts to implement the Career Progression Guidelines (CPG), which emphasize performance, experience, and academic qualifications. These guidelines have been instrumental in creating a structured and transparent pathway for upward mobility in the teaching sector.
Teachers who were successful in the promotion interviews have begun receiving their official promotion letters starting June 22, 2025, while those who did not qualify are being issued with regret notifications.
Educators and stakeholders have welcomed the move, viewing it as a positive step toward boosting morale, improving retention, and enhancing the quality of education in schools. Teachers are encouraged to check the official TSC website to view the full list of promoted candidates and obtain further guidance from their county offices.
The TSC has reaffirmed its commitment to fair and regular promotions, promising to address outstanding vacancies and ensure no eligible teacher is left behind.
