C1 Teachers to Be Automatically Promoted to C2 Under Common Cadre System This June

In a major boost to the career progression of teachers, the implementation of the Common Cadre promotion system continues to streamline promotions across various education levels in the country. One of the most anticipated benefits of the system is the automatic promotion of C1 teachers to C2 after three years of satisfactory service.

The Common Cadre structure, developed to standardize and harmonize the teaching profession, now clearly outlines a transparent promotional path for educators based on qualifications and experience. Under the framework:

  • Teachers holding a P1 certificate begin their career at grade B5 and are automatically promoted to grade C1 after three years of service with a clean record.
  • Diploma holders enter the system at grade C1 and are promoted to C2 after three years of satisfactory performance.
  • Graduate teachers begin at grade C2 and move to C3 following the same three-year guideline.

For diploma teachers currently in grade C1, this means that promotion to grade C2 is guaranteed after the completion of three years of effective and unblemished service. This development has been welcomed by thousands of educators who have long awaited clarity and fairness in the promotion process.

Speaking to a representative of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), it was confirmed that the commission is actively processing promotions for teachers who meet the criteria. The TSC emphasized that teachers must meet professional standards, maintain good discipline, and demonstrate competency in their teaching responsibilities to benefit from the automatic promotion.

"The new framework is designed to reward commitment and professionalism. Teachers who continue to deliver quality education and meet the set standards should not worry — their progress is assured," the official stated.

This automatic promotion system not only motivates teachers but also helps retain skilled professionals in the education sector. As implementation continues, the TSC has urged educators to ensure that their records, including performance appraisals and professional development logs, are up to date to avoid delays in the promotion process.

Fraud: Suspected Con Artists Masquerading as WiFi Installers Target Families at Bukembe Market

Residents of Bukembe market in Bungoma County have been cautioned to be on high alert after a disturbing incident involving suspected fraudsters posing as WiFi installers unfolded earlier today. According to eyewitness reports,  three individuals operating a vehicle with registration number KDP 516R  attempted to defraud a family by gaining unauthorised access to their home under the pretence of setting up internet services.
